Question by Lois Griffin: Should a college professor wait until after they get tenured before getting a sex change?

I gathered that a teacher can't get fired for getting a sex change.
But: Can they be denied tenureship for getting a sex change?
Do you think a community college or public university would purposely refuse someone tenureship on that reason alone?

Its illegal for a university or CC to deny tenure to faculty because of their personal lives... however....
If the University or CC want to be jerks, they could always find another reason not to give the Prof. tenure... There are many loopholes, unfortunately it is a very flawed system.
I think that it is smart for the prof. to wait... it really couldn't hurt and it it would protect him/her from ridicule :)
